ZxBudget Privacy Policy

ZxBudget is a personal budgeting app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Protecting your privacy is a core design goal: the app is built so that the developer never has access to your financial data.
Data we collect
None. The developer of ZxBudget does not collect, receive, store, sell, or share any of your personal or financial information. There is no account to create with us, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking SDKs in the app.
Where your data lives
All of your budget data — accounts, transactions, categories, targets, and settings — is stored locally on your device and in your own private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit private database. This data is synced between your devices by Apple and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. The developer cannot see, access, or retrieve it.
On your devices
If you allow location, ZxBudget can remember a payee's location to suggest that payee when you are nearby. That location is stored with your budget in your iCloud account, is visible to anyone you share that budget with, and is removed after 12 months without use. If you scan a receipt, recognition happens on your device. An image you attach to a transaction is stored in your iCloud account and is visible to anyone you share that budget with. If you turn on app lock, Face ID or your device passcode stays on that device. ZxBudget does not receive your biometric data.
Network usage
ZxBudget connects to the internet for three purposes only:
- iCloud sync, handled entirely by Apple, to keep your data consistent across your devices.
- Foreign-exchange rates, fetched from public sources (the Bank of Canada and the Frankfurter / European Central Bank rate feeds) to convert amounts for multi-currency budgets. These requests ask only for public exchange-rate data and contain none of your personal or financial information.
- Subscriptions, handled by Apple. Those requests do not include your budget.
Data sharing and budget collaboration
If you choose to share a budget with another person using the app's built-in sharing feature, that data is shared directly between your iCloud accounts through Apple's CloudKit sharing. A shared budget includes payee locations and attached receipt images. The developer is not a party to that exchange and does not receive the shared data.
Data retention and deletion
Because the developer holds none of your data, there is nothing for us to retain or delete. You remain in full control: you can edit or remove data in the app, reset your budget, export a backup, or delete the app and remove its data from your iCloud account at any time.
Children
ZxBudget is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
